The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, Captain Muhammad Aziz, reassured the Lebanese that communications are in place with the relevant authorities, locally and internationally, with the aim of ensuring that any targeting does not extend to the borders of the airport or affect the safety of air navigation.
He stressed that "the airport continues to operate normally, and will not be closed," pointing out that "flight movement continues according to its usual schedule, while the measures taken fall within the framework of preserving the safety of travelers and vital facilities."
Works Minister Fayez Rasamni announced that he had received assurances from diplomatic agencies and concerned authorities that the airport and its road would remain outside any targeting area, as long as their use was limited to civilian purposes.
Rasamny had made several contacts with the concerned authorities to neutralize the airport and the road leading to it, in order to ensure the safety of passenger traffic and business continuity.
